Healthy walk: Morning walks keep 64-year-old Linda Tshabalala away from doctors

A sizeable number of joggers along the Impala Road (R558) has significantly dwindled since President Cyril Ramaphosa announced Level 3 of Covid-19. About 500 joggers and walkers used to populate this main road between Tshepisong and Doornkop, daily. Some started to hit the road as early as 5 O’clock in the morning. They were children, men and women of different shapes, sizes and ages.

Among them was 64-year-old Linda Tshabalala. She attributed her good health to walking long distances everyday. “I walk for about 30km and it helped me a lot. I have chronic conditions and since I started walking, my health has improved,” she testified.
Some of the joggers said they had enough time in their hands hence they started running; since the Coronavirus pandemic, they don’t have to go to school or work, so they sublimate by jogging. They promised that it is the exercise that will continue even after Covid-19.
