Ko Mokokotlong On Menu
Who would have thought flavoursome cocktails could be named Hlaudi, Ko Mokokotlong, Manyonyoba, Slow Poison, and after Grace Mugabe, just to mention a few? UlangaBar has a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks named after these recognisable faces and extraordinary events and incidents.
“There brands are influenced by current affairs and what is trending,” says Lesiba Langa. He co-owns this mobile bar with his wife, Keitumetse. Customers also influence the decisions to name their beverages.
According to Lesiba, Hlaudi cocktail has ‘that thing’. The picture of the former SABC boss, Hlaudi Motsoeneng went viral on social media. He firmly pouted and cupped his hand, as if stressing a point. The image gave birth to Hlaudi cocktail.
UlangaBar’s latest offering is Grace Unplugged. Remember the story of Zim’s first lady and how she allegedly attacked a South African model with an electric plug at a hotel in Sandton? Right. This one comes from that unfortunate incident.
Grace ingredients include water, water melon juice and gin and tonic. It is served in a 500ml canned fruit container and cost R70.00. Honestly, it is yummy and can hit hard. It was mixed by Sky and Gee.
